The 2012 Kansas River Valley Experiment Field held its Fall Field Day on Aug. 14 at the K-State Research and Extension Experiment Station in Rossville. The day was hosted by Eric Adee and the Kansas River Valley Research farm staff. The group of about 55 local producers toured the crops at the farm and looked at different experimental fields in the growing process. Agriculture in the area has been very challenging this year with the drought and heat of this summer.
Presenters from K-State Research and Extension and local agronomist, Eric Adee, Kraig Roozeboom, Lucas Haag, Doug Shoup, Bryson Haverkamp, and Dan Rogers gave presentations to help the local farmers get new information for the planting of corn and soybeans in our area. Some of the topics covered were: Current research at the research field, Drought tolerant corn hybrids in Kansas, Corn and soybean responses to 28 years on N-P-K fertilizer, Pushing soybeans to higher yields, and Using KanSched2 in a Drought Year. A meal was provided by Wilbur-Ellis to finish off the evening.
