Georgia cattle auction summary


The summary of livestock auctions in Georgia for the week ending Sept. 28, totaled 11,221 head, compared to 9,948 head last week and 8,982 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows were $1 to $3 lower, bulls were steady to $2 lower, feeder steers were unevenly steady to $2 lower, heifers were $1 to $3 lower, steer calves and heifer calves were steady to $3 lower, replacement cows were steady to $2 lower. The offering included 11% steers over 600 pounds, 36% steers under 600 pounds, 7% heifers over 600 pounds, 25% heifers under 600 pounds, 6% feeder cows, 13% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
