Colorado feeder cattle summary

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 6,010 head Sept. 28, compared to 6,667 head last week and 4,435 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, steers traded steady to $3 lower, with instances of up to $6 to $7 lower, and 300- to 500-pound heifers traded $2 to $4 higher. Heifers over 550 pounds traded lower $2 to $4 with instances of up to $7 lower. Trading activity was moderate on moderate to good demand. The supply consisted of 60% steers and 40% heifers. Feeders over 600 pound made up 26% of the total supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 285 to 290 lbs., 196.50 to 210.00; 310 to 330 lbs., 193.00 to 220.00; 350 to 395 lbs., 180.00 to 202.50; 400 to 450 lbs., 152.00 to 198.25; 450 to 495 lbs., 147.00 to 184.00; 500 to 545 lbs., 140.00 to 170.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 141.50 to 160.50, thin fleshed 165.50; 605 to 645 lbs., 139.50 to 153.00, calves 146.00 to 151.00; 660 to 700 lbs., 143.00 to 153.30,calves 139.50 to 148.50, value added 155.75; 700 to 750 lbs., 141.00 to 150.00; 750 to 795 lbs., 136.50 to 147.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 137.50 to 142.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 136.25 to 140.50; 900 to 925 lbs., 129.00 to 137.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 360 to 390 lbs., 171.00 to 191.00; 445 to 500 lbs., 139.00 to 169.75; 505 to 550 lbs., 125.00 to 155.00; 550 to 580 lbs., 147.00 to 152.00; 705 to 750 lbs., 123.00 to 138.75.
