Grain market closeThe USDA Market News Service, Greeley, Colo., in the closing grain report for Oct. 1, reported in futures trading that Chicago December soft red winter wheat was $8.84 1/4, down 18 1/4 cents; December corn, $7.56 3/4, up 1/2 cent; and November soybeans, $15.60 1/4, down 40 3/4 cents. The export bid for direct Gulf delivery of No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, rail, $9.62 to $9.72, down 20 1/2 cents; No. 2 soft red winter wheat, barge, $9.39 1/4 to $9.42 1/4, down 18 1/4 to 32 1/4 cents; No. 2 yellow corn, barge, $8.17 3/4 to $8.22 3/4, up 1/2 to 1 1/2 cents; No. 2 yellow sorghum, rail, unavailable; No. 2 yellow sorghum, barge, $13.06 3/4 to $13.24 1/2, up 1 to 3/4 cents; and No. 2 yellow soybeans, barge, $16.38 1/4 to $16.41 1/4, down 40 3/4 to 43 3/4 cents. Colby, Kan., unit train wheat bid was $7.82. In Denver and the surrounding area, hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, was $8.27 to $8.82. No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, northwest Colorado was mostly 15 cents lower. In north central Colorado, wheat was $8.27 to $8.42. In northeast Colorado, wheat was $8.02 to $8.12. In east central Colorado, wheat was $8.02 to $8.32. In southeast Colorado, wheat was $8.21 to $8.37. In south central Colorado, wheat was $7.42. In southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming, wheat bids were $7.92 to $8.12. No. 2 yellow corn in north central Colorado was mostly 1 cent higher and $7.28 to $7.68 per bushel. In northeast Colorado, the country elevator corn bids were $7.33 to $7.53. In east central Colorado, corn was $7.48 to $7.68. In southeast Colorado, corn was $7.93 to $7.98. In southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming, corn bids were $7.33 to $7.38 per bushel. No. 2 yellow sorghum in southeast Colorado was mixed to 2 cents higher at $13 to $13.18 per cwt. No. 1 yellow soybeans in southwest Nebraska were mostly 29 cents lower at $14.46 to $14.55 per bushel. White millet in Colorado, southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming was $30 to $31.50 per cwt., mostly $31. Sunflowers were $28 to $30 cwt. In Denver and surrounding areas, corn was $7.28 to $7.68 per bushel. Barley was steady at $13. In northeast Colorado and Nebraska, pinto beans were steady $35 per cwt; in North Dakota and Minnesota, pinto beans were steady $32. In North Dakota and Minnesota, black beans had no bids. Great Northerns were steady at $40 in northeast Colorado and Nebraska. In North Dakota and Minnesota, navy beans were steady $32.
