NILE to host cattle drive, parade

Montana

This year the Northern International Livestock Exposition will host the 45th annual NILE Stock Show and Rodeo Oct. 17 to 20 at MetraPark. As part of the celebration, the NILE Lou Taubert Ranch Outfitters Cattle Drive and Parade will will be held on Oct. 20 at 10 am.

"It something we are extremely excited about and have been wanting to do for several years," says Justin Mills, NILE general manager. The parade will feature a Cattle Drive made up of 50 head of steers complete with a trail boss, outriders, chuck wagon, and bunk wagon. "We've been working with Chas Weldon of the Yellowstone County Museum in creating an authentic Cattle Drive as part of the parade," says Mills. "This is part of Billings' heritage and we are proud to provide this kind of opportunity in which we can honor our past."

The parade will be a motor-less parade, which means all entries will riding horses or other ride-able animals, in horse drawn wagons, or walking. It will follow the normal parade route through downtown Billings, however the Cattle Drive will continue on and end at MetraPark.

Other activities that will take place that day will be a Community Chuck Wagon Barbecue in the Courtyard at MetraPark that will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Currently the NILE is seeking Parade Entries for all categories. All entries must be motor-less.

For entry information, forms, or more information you can call the NILE office at 406-256-2495 or go to www.thenile.org.
