Vilsack appoints Ark. producer to National Peanut BoardArkansas Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsak appointed Kyle Baltz of Pocahontas, Ark., as an alternate to the National Peanut Board. He was nominated for the position by Arkansas peanut producers at an election held by the Arkansas Agriculture Department in April 2012. Members and alternates will serve three-year terms of office beginning Jan. 1, 2013, with the exception of a Florida alternate, who will serve for two years. Reappointed members are: John C. Harrell, Whigham, Ga.; Bob White, Clarendon, Texas; and Francis "Vic" Jordan, III, Rayville, La. In addition to Mr. Baltz, alternate members are Jeffrey Pitman, Bascom, Fla.; Andy Bell, Climax, Ga.; and Peter Froese, Jr, Seminole, Texas. Kyle Baltz has farmed since 2001. In 2003 he and his brother Jeremy partnered in their farming operation. The Baltz Brothers partnership produces peanuts, rice, soybeans, milo, corn, wheat, hay and cattle. Mr. Baltz has been the owner and manager of Baltz Feed Company since 1999. The National Peanut Board represents all USA peanut farmers and their families. The mission of the Board is to provide USA peanut growers with a receptive and growing market for their peanuts and the information and tools for improved efficiencies. Through research and marketing initiatives the Board is finding new ways to enhance production and increase consumer demand by promoting the great taste, nutrition and culinary versatility of USA-grown peanuts.
