Amarillo livestock auction summary

The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, Oct. 1, reported receipts of 692 head, compared to 2,508 head last week and 848 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, comparable sales of feeder steers and heifers hardly enough for an accurate price trend comparison, few sales mostly steady. Limited test slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade and demand was moderate. The offering consisted of several small lots of attractive calves. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 9%, 1% replacements and 90% feeders. The feeder supply consisted of 48% steers bulls, 52% heifers, with 61% weighed over 600.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 272 lbs., 225.00, few 282 lbs., 198.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 162.75 to 170.00; few 515 lbs., 162.50, few 549 lbs., 158.50, 590 to 596 lbs., 143.50 to 145.00; 600 to 650 lb. calves 141.00 to 145.50; few 722 lb. calves 135.25; few 802 lbs., 137.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 690 lb. calves 135.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, lot 687 lbs., 128.75; few 788 lbs., 119.00. Medium and large frame 3, few 586 lbs., 95.00. Small and medium frame 2 to 3, few 668 lbs., 105.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 450 to 500 lbs., 150.00 to 166.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 126.00 to 129.00; few 712 lbs., 116.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 346 lbs., 170.00, few 355 lbs., 153.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 145.50 to 148.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 134.50 to 143.50; 600 to 650 lb. calves 129.00 to 134.00; few 773 lbs., 127.00, 700 to 750 lb. calves 121.00; few 820 lbs., 120.00, few 826 lbs., fleshy 115.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 663 lbs., 123.00, few 630 lb. calves 125.00; few 773 lbs., 121.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, few 405 lbs., 108.00; few 560 lbs., 106.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 101.00 to 115.00. Medium and large frame 3, few 500 to 595 lbs., 91.00 to 95.00. Small and medium frame 2 to 3, few 677 lbs., 100.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1500 lbs., 72.50 to 74.00; low dressing, 67.50. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 74.00 to 79.00; low dressing, 69.50 to 73.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 75.50 to 77.00; high dressing, 79.25; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 69.00 to 70.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1500 to 2060 lbs., 89.00 to 90.00; low dressing, 1500 lbs., 74.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, Young to Middle aged, 800 to 1000 lbs., 1 to 3 months bred 700.00 to 910.00/head.
