Tulsa livestock auction report

The Tulsa Stockyards Inc., Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 3,194 head Oct. 1, compared to 4,352 head last week and 2,749 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested but a lower undertone was noted. Steer and heifer calves were steady to $3 lower. Calves from 300 to 375 pounds were $3 to $10 lower. Quality showed the complete range of plain through attractive. Demand was very good for weaned calves. The supply included 20% over 600 pounds, with 44% heifers. Slaughter cows sold steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were stead. A total of 364 cows and bulls sold with 73% going to packers.

Light, 57 head, 80 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 53.00 to 57.00; high dressing, 63.00 to 67.00; low dressing, 40.00 to 52.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 13 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 90.00 to 93.50; low dressing, 80.00 to 89.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 years old, 1200 lbs., 4 to 5 months bred, high black 1065.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 years old, 800 to 1000 lbs., with 200-lb. calves, average quality 1060.00 to 1250.00.
