Ericson livestock auction reportThe Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 922 head Oct. 20, compared to 2,000 head last week and 1,700 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb. This was a special bred cow auction consisted mostly of running-aged black and red Angus cows, spring-bred to black and red Angus bulls, a few to Charolais bulls. Many lots were in town due to lack of grass and hay. Pair offerings consisted of black and red Angus with black and red calves at side. A few calves off the 344 head of slaughter cows and odds lots today were included in total receipts. Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, Young 1327 to 1565 lbs., with 85- to 120-lb. calves, 1435.00 to 1650.00. Running-aged, not mouthed 1345 to 1620 lbs., with 80- to 100-lb. calves, 1200.00 to 1593.00. Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1, Middle-aged, 1170 to 1244 lbs., 985.00 to 990.00; 1305 to 1361 lbs., 1020.00 to 1125.00. Running-aged, not mouthed, 1072 to 1096 lbs., 810.00 to 860.00, 1178 to 1245 lbs., 900.00 to 1000.00; 1300 to 1421 lbs., 860.00 to 1070.00. Late bred, Mix aged, 1074 to 1247 lbs., 910.00 to 910.00. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 12 head, 406 lbs., 172.00; 6 head, 663 lbs., 141.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 head, 339 lbs., 191.00.
