Salina livestock auction report


The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,290 head Oct. 19, compared to 3,266 head last week and 2,174 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, feeder steers at 400 to 650 pounds were steady to $1 higher, 650 to 850 pounds were steady to $2 lower, and steers over 850 pounds were $2 to $4 higher. Heifers at 500 to 600 pounds were mostly steady, 600 to 700 pounds were steady to $2 lower, and heifers over 700 pounds were $1 to $4 higher. Trade and demand were very active. The supply included 67% steers and 33% heifers with 78% 600 pounds and over.
