The Ogallala Livestock Auction Market, Ogallala, Neb., reported receipts of 3,000 head Oct. 18, compared to 3,200 head last week and 5,400 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.
Compared to last week, steers and heifers were $2 to $17 lower. Except 450- to 550-pound steer and heifers were $4 to $12 higher. Demand was moderate. Steers accounted for 62% and heifers 38% of the offering, with 2% over 600 pounds.
Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 351 to 380 lbs., 209.50 to 218.00 (217.61); 404 to 441 lbs., 185.00 to 205.00 (195.22); 418 to 420 lbs., 220.00 to 224.00 (222.36) fancy; 455 to 493 lbs., 174.50 to 182.50 (177.05); 115 head, 459 lbs., 194.00 fancy; 520 to 546 lbs., 163.00 to 175.00 (170.68); 553 to 597 lbs., 160.00 to 166.50 (163.61); 615 to 631 lbs., 160.00 calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 351 to 385 lbs., 201.00 to 205.00 (202.50); 425 to 442 lbs., 173.00 to 183.50 (179.74); 460 to 497 lbs., 166.00 to 172.00 (167.23). Large frame 1, 10 head. 648 lbs., 141.00 caves.
