San Angelo livestock auction report

The San Angelo Producers Livestock Auction Report, San Angelo, Texas, reported estimated receipts of 1,795 head Oct. 18, compared to 763 head last week and 4,042 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, San Angelo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were firm to $2 higher. Slaughter cows were firm, slaughter bulls were not well tested. Stock cows and pairs were firm to moderately higher. Trading was fairly active, demand good. The supply included 20% slaughter cows, 1% slaughter bulls, 54% feeders, 25% stock cows and pairs. The feeders included 50% steers and bulls, 20% weighed over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 192.50 to 199.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 180.00 to 189.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 158.00 to 171.00, few 177.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 144.00 to 148.00, few 156.00 to 158.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 133.00 to 137.00; 810 lbs., 130.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250 to 300 lbs., 180.00 to 188.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 183.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 164.00 to 178.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 148.00 to 156.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 135.00 to 142.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 124.00 to 127.00. Medium and large frame 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 167.00 to 172.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 140.00 to 160.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 132.00 to 137.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 130.00 to 134.00; 770 lbs., 115.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 300 to 400 lbs., 173.00 to 187.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 155.00 to 166.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 141.00 to 148.00; 632 lbs., 138.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 121.50 to 126.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 160.00 to 170.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 143.00 to 153.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 129.50 to 139.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 128.00 to 137.00; 700 to 800 lbs.,116.00 to 117.00. Medium and large frame 2, 273 lbs., 150.00; 350 to 400 lbs., 125.00 to 158.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 129.00 to 142.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 115.00 to 126.00; 864 lbs., 108.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1300 to 1550 lbs., 65.50 to 73.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 900 to 1475 lbs., 73.00 to 79.50; low dressing, 72.00 to 75.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 850 to 1150 lbs., 67.00 to 74.00; low dressing, 63.00 to 68.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 600 to 900 lbs., 60.00 to 65.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1, 1675 to 1785 lbs., 94.00 to 94.50; low dressing, 1100 to 1800 lbs., 80.50 to 90.50.

Stock cows and heifers: Pregnancy tested, all sold by the head, Medium and large frame 1, baby tooth 1450.00 to 1500.00 solid mouth 1325.00 to 1575.00; short solid mouth 1275.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, heifers 1125.00, few light bred 1050.00; baby tooth 1100.00 to 1150.00, light bred 1025.00 to 1125.00. Solid mouth 1200.00 to 1325.00, light bred 1200.00 to 1225.00. Short solid mouth 1175.00 to 1250.00. Medium and large frame 2, baby tooth 925.00 to 1000.00. Solid mouth 850.00 to 1075.00.

Pairs: All sold by the pair. All have 100- to 350-lb. calves. Medium and large frame 1, baby tooth 1400.00 to 1525.00; solid mouth 1510.00 to 1775.00. Short solid mouth 1500.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, solid mouth 1250.00 to 1400.00. Medium and large frame 2, solid mouth 1050.00 to 1150.00.

Stocker and feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 800 to 1075 lbs., 92.00 to 105.00 cwt; young and middle-aged, 800 to 11050 lbs., 85.00 to 89.00 cwt; middle-aged, 900 to 1300 lbs., 75.50 to 83.00 cwt; thin and or aged, 800 to 1200 lbs., 71.50 to 78.00 cwt.
