Extension to hold financial fraud prevention program

The Ellis County Extension Office will sponsor a free program on financial safety and security for senior citizens on Oct. 23 at noon, at the Ellis County Extension Office Meeting Room, 601 Main Street in Hays. The program will include best practices for investing, money scams and financial fraud prevention, and tips for protecting your nest egg. Speakers from the Securities Commissioner's Office in Topeka include Randy Mullikin, director of Compliance and Enforcement and Erin Hoestje, assistant director of compliance and senior attorney.

Please register with the Ellis County Extension Office by Friday, September 19 at 785-628-9430. Educational materials, refreshments and door prizes are included.

This Extension program is the second in a series of three programs especially for senior citizens and those who care about them. Seniors and their family members and care givers are invited to attend these free educational programs to learn useful information of seasonal interest.

The final program of the Ellis County Extension Community Education Series will be held on Nov. 13, 6 p.m., with a program on fire safety and security presented by Ross Meder of the Hays Fire Department.
