Grain, soybean bids mixed

Grain and soybean bids were mixed according to the National Grain Market Summary, Oct. 8.

Wheat found support from concerns of freezing temperatures and dryness in some parts of the Plains. Corn and soybeans were pressured by rain in the growing areas of Argentina and the higher dollar.

Wheat was mostly 2 to 14 cents higher. Corn was 3 to 10 cents lower. Sorghum was 3 to 10 cents lower. Soybeans were 1 cent lower to 4 cents higher.

In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $8.82 3/4, up 4 cents.

Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $8.53, up 14 cents; Minneapolis, $9.34 1/2, up 5 cents; Portland, $8.40 to $8.76, down 10 to up 3 1/2 cents; St. Louis, $8.22, up 5 cents.

Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $7.57, down 3 to 6 cents; Minneapolis, $6.95 cents, down 7 cents; southern Iowa, unavailable; Omaha, $7.50 to $7.54, down 3 to 4 cents.

Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $15.51, down 1 cent; Minneapolis, $15.09, down 1/2 cent; southern Iowa, unavailable; central Illinois processors, $15.56 to $15.66, up 4 1/2 to down 1/2 cent.

Kansas City wheat prices Oct. 9, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $9.23 3/4 to $9.85 3/4, up 16 to 8 cents; 12% protein, $9.78 3/4 to $9.96 3/4, up 11 to 14 cents; 13% protein, $9.81 3/4 to $9.96 3/4, up 14 cents; 14% protein, $9.83 3/4 to $9.98 3/4, up 6 cents. U.S. No. 2 soft red winter wheat was unavailable. U.S. No. 2 white corn was $8.05 to $8.58, unchanged.
