Grain market closeThe USDA Market News Service, Greeley, Colo., in the closing grain report for Oct. 8, reported in futures trading that Chicago December soft red winter wheat was $8.61, up 3 1/2 cents; December corn, $7.42, down 6 cents; and November soybeans, $15.51, down 1/2 cent. The export bid for direct Gulf delivery of No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, rail, $9.42 3/4 to $9.57 3/4, up 4 cents; No. 2 soft red winter wheat, barge, $9.19 to $9.21, up 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 cents; No. 2 yellow corn, barge, $8.02 to $8.10, down 10 t0 6 cents; No. 2 yellow sorghum, rail, $12.42 3/4 to $12.44 3/4, down 10 3/4 to 10 1/2 cents; No. 2 yellow sorghum, barge, $13.05 1/4 to $13.07 1/4, down 3 3/4 to 10 1/2 cents; and No. 2 yellow soybeans, barge, $16.29 to $16.33, up 1 1/2 to down 1/2 cent. Colby, Kan., unit train wheat bid was $8.31. In Denver and the surrounding area, hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, was $8.24 to $8.79. No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, northwest Colorado was mostly 5 to 6 cents higher. In north central Colorado, wheat was $8.24 to $8.43. In northeast Colorado, wheat was $7.99 to $8.09. In east central Colorado, wheat was $7.99 to $8.29. In southeast Colorado, wheat was $8.19 to $8.34. In south central Colorado, wheat was $7.38. In southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming, wheat bids were $7.89 to $8.14. No. 2 yellow corn in north central Colorado was mostly steady and $7.12 to $7.52 per bushel. In northeast Colorado, the country elevator corn bids were $7.17 to $7.37. In east central Colorado, corn was $7.32 to $7.52. In southeast Colorado, corn was $7.77 to $7.82. In southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming, corn bids were $7.17 to $7.23 per bushel. No. 2 yellow sorghum in southeast Colorado was stead at $12.71 to $12.89 per cwt. No. 1 yellow soybeans in southwest Nebraska were 1 cent lower at $14.65 to $14.73 per bushel. White millet in Colorado, southwest Nebraska and southeast Wyoming was $30 to $31.50 per cwt., mostly $31. Sunflowers were $27 to $30 cwt. In Denver and surrounding areas, corn was $7.12 to $7.52 per bushel. Barley was steady at $13. In northeast Colorado and Nebraska, pinto beans were steady $35 per cwt; in North Dakota and Minnesota, pinto beans were $32. In North Dakota and Minnesota, black beans were unavailable. Great Northerns were steady at $40 in northeast Colorado and Nebraska. In North Dakota and Minnesota, navy beans were steady $32.
