Salina livestock auction reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 2,410 head, Oct. 4, compared to 1,583 head, last week and 3,406 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 900 to 950 pounds were steady. Heifers at 600 to 750 pounds were $4 to $5 lower. Steers at 900 pounds and under were in a limited supply with higher undertones. Heifers at 600 pounds and under and 750 pounds and over had lower undertones in a limited supply. Trade and demand was moderate. Receipts included 84% 600 pounds and over, 15% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The supply was 59% steers and 41% heifers.
