Lexington livestock market report

The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 2,127 head Oct. 5, compared to 4,555 head last week and 1,220 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves sold fully steady to $4 higher with instances of $10 to $13 higher. Several load lots of top quality black, F1 cross and red-hided calves were in the run today. Most were pre-conditioned and the value-added offerings were long-timed weaned. Demand was good from start to finish from a moderate crowd with a few new faces on the seats. Not as many slaughter cows and bulls as previous weeks. The supply included 57% steers with 15% of the run over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 240 lbs., 490.00 per head; 12 head, 291 to 296 lbs., 200.00 to 209.00 (202.97); 10 head, 325 lbs., 195.75; 350 to 375 lbs., 200.25 to 204.60 (202.96); 409 to 420 lbs., 180.50 to 183.00 (182.67); 460 to 487 lbs., 173.25 to 177.00 (174.46); 113 head, 472 lbs., 180.00 value added; 517 to 548 lbs., 171.25 to 175.50 (174.08); 561 to 587 lbs., 163.75 to 169.00 (164.78); 560 to 589 lbs., 173.25 to 175.25 (173.64) fancy; 17 head, 639 lbs., 158.50 calves; 42 head, 692 lbs., 157.75 calves; 5 head, 1057 lbs., 127.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 16 head, 355 to 366 lbs., 190.00 to 198.00 (195.55); 9 head, 416 to 425 lbs., 173.00 to 177.00 (174.76); 30 head, 531 lbs., 163.00.
