North Arkansas livestock auction report

The North Arkansas Livestock Auction, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 1,231 head Sept. 26, compared to 811 head last week and 2,340 head last year, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were $3 to $4 lower. Feeders mostly steady to $5 lower, instances were $6 to $8 lower except the better 600- to 700-pound heifers were $1 to $2 higher. The supply included about 750 feeder calves, 155 feeder yearlings, 50 replacement cows, 252 slaughter cows, and 24 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply included 41% steers, 42% heifers, and 17% bulls, with near 14% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 70.00 to 72.00; high dressing, 74.00 to 79.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 68.00 to 75.00; high dressing, 76.00 to 83.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 62.00 to 72.00; high dressing73.00 to 82.50; low dressing, 51.00 to 61.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 55.00 to 60.00; low dressing, 44.00 to 55.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 85.00 to 88.50; high dressing, 91.50 to 93.50; low dressing, 77.00 to 82.50.
