Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards Inc., Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 4,352 head Sept. 24, compared to 3,149 head last week and 3,758 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady. Steer and heifer calves sold steady to $10 higher with light weight cattle gaining back last weeks losses. Demand was very good for weaned cattle. Quality was average to attractive, few plain. A good number of load lots were sold in the offering. The supply included 22% over 600 pounds, 43% heifers and 524 cows and bulls. Slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $4 lower. Replacement cows sold to good demand but supplies very limited. A total of 524 cows and bulls sold with 77% going to packers.

Light, 54 head, 80 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 53.00 to 57.00; high dressing, 63.00 to 69.00; low dressing, 40.00 to 52.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 28 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 86.00 to 89.00; high dressing, 91.00 to 94.00; low dressing, 75.00 to 85.00.
