Ft. Smith livestock auction reportThe Ft. Smith Livestock, Ft. Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 657 head Sept. 24, compared to 687 head last week, according to the Arkansas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, slaughter cows were $1 to $5 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady to $3 lower. Feeder steers and heifers were $1 to $5 lower. The supply included 326 feeder calves, 210 feeder yearlings, 25 replacement cows, 82 slaughter cows, 13 slaughter bulls, and 1 replacement bulls. The feeder supply consisted of about 40% English breed and English crosses, 30% Exotic breed and Exotic crosses, 30% Brahman and Brahman crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply was about 55% steers and bulls with 45% heifers. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 68.00 to 72.50. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 72.00 to 76.50; high dressing, 77.00 to 81.50; low dressing, 67.00 to 71.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 70.00 to 74.50; high dressing, 75.00 to 79.00; low dressing, 65.00 to 69.50. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 55.00 to 59.50; high dressing, 60.00 to 64.00; low dressing, 50.00 to 54.50. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 93.00 to 97.50; high dressing, 104.00; low dressing 79.00 to 88.00.
