Ericson livestock auction report

The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 5,350 head Sept. 22, compared to 4,260 head last week and 1,830 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

Compared with two weeks ago, steers traded $2 to $4 higher and heifers traded $3 to $6 higher. Yearling heifer offerings sold steady to $6 higher. Demand was good for all offerings with several buyers in the seats and a few new faces. There was cooler weather in the area with still no rain. Receipts consisted of 42% steers, 58% heifers with 35% weighing over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 307 to 343 lbs., 204.50 to 212.00 (206.14); 375 to 399 lbs., 197.00 to 206.00 (201.09); 404 to 424 lbs., 193.00 to 204.00 (198.56); 453 to 492 lbs., 174.75 to 189.50 (180.21); 504 to 544 lbs., 165.50 to 175.75 (172.12); 186 head, 502 lbs., 179.75 thin fleshed; 550 to 576 lbs., 163.10 to 174.00 (167.50); 32 head, 628 lbs., 157.00 calves; 680 to 699 lbs., 148.00 to 151.50 (150.41); 21 head, 713 lbs., 150.50; 810 to 843 lbs., 140.50 to 143.00 (142.55). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 17 head, 354 lbs., 190.00; 414 to 433 lbs., 177.75 to 185.00 (179.42); 450 to 488 lbs., 165.00 to 172.00 (169.84); 9 head, 527 lbs., 164.50; 18 head, 588 lbs., 152.00.
