Colorado feeder cattle summary

The Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colo., reported receipts of 6,667 head Sept. 21, compared to 8,483 head last week and 5,929 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, steer calves traded unevenly steady and over 500 pounds were mostly $2 to $6 higher. Heifers under 500 pounds were mostly $5 to $9 higher, 500 to 800 pounds were mostly $3 to $6 higher, and over 800 pounds mostly $2 to $5 lower. Trading activity was moderate on moderate to good demand. The supply consisted of 55% steers and 45% heifers. Feeders over 600 pounds made up 29% of the total supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 270 to 290 lbs., 220.00 to 228.00; 315 to 340 lbs., 184.00 to 199.00; 350 to 395 lbs., 184.00 to 205.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 175.00 to 189.00, value added 197.00 to 197.50; 450 to 500 lbs., 155.00 to 183.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 150.00 to 170.00; 550 to 595 lbs., 145.00 to 162.00; 600 to 645 lbs., 144.00 to 158.75, calves 144.00 to 154.00; 655 to 680 lbs., 146.00 to 157.00, calves 142.00 to 151.50; 700 to 730 lbs., 143.00 to 156.00, calves 147.50; 750 to 795 lbs., 140.00 to 144.00; 810 to 830 lbs., 137.00 to 141.50; 850 to 870 lbs., 132.50 to 138.50; 910 to 930 lbs., 131.00 to 136.75; 955 to 970 lbs., 126.50 to 131.75; 1000 to 1095 lbs., 119.50 to 124.00.
