K-State Olathe Campus to host animal welfare seminar

Producers, Animals, and Consumers: Animal Welfare in U.S. Food Animal Production will be held Oct. 22 from 1:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the K-State Olathe Campus.
In this interactive seminar, animal welfare experts, Dr. Dan Thomson, Jones Professor of Production Medicine and Epidemiology and director of Beef Cattle Institute, College of Veterinary Medicine, Kansas State University, and Glynn Tonsor, Ph.D., associate professor of Agricultural Economics, Kansas State University, will discuss public perceptions and expectations of animal agriculture, explore how these impact the food animal and consumer food industries, and investigate various industry approaches for addressing the growing public interest in animal welfare.
