MeditationRead Psalm 119:97-104 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength. --Mark 12:30 (NRSV) When my son, Yuta, was nine months old, he began to hold on to the sofa to walk. One day, I had left my bible on the sofa and was playing with my son. He saw the Bible and walked toward it. I brought him back several times to the corner of the sofa, but he became frantic, fervently seeking out the Bible. I brought him back so many times that I eventually let him touch the Bible. My son, with an exceptionally big smile, touched the cover and then joyfully covered his head with the Bible. When I saw him do this, I thought of the words of Mark 12:30 and was deeply moved. I realized that the posture of Christians who yearn for God, love God, and want to learn God's word should be like my son's. As the Bible was for Yuta, God is within our reach; and if we seek God, the Lord will answer. Our steps may be uncertain, but as we steadily turn our hearts and eyes to God, giving our best, we come to know and love God. PRAYER Dear God, we thank you for being near to us. May we seek you and, throughout our lives, submit ourselves to you and love you. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen. Thought for the Day Choosing to seek God wholeheartedly opens the door to a life of joy. Hirono Shinomiya (Shizuoka, Japan) Date: 10/1/2012
