Rove, Black highlight KLA Convention programKansas Karl Rove, senior advisor and deputy chief of staff for President George W. Bush, will highlight the 100th Kansas Livestock Association Convention, Nov. 28 to 30 in Wichita. The political consultant and policy advisor, sponsored by Bayer Animal Health and Micro, will make a special appearance following a dinner. Rove will analyze results of the general election, including the presidential race and new congressional makeup. The Nov. 29 Beef Industry University, sponsored by the Farm Credit Associations of Kansas, will feature projections from foodservice industry consultant Nancy Kruse about how beef will fit emerging menu trends for the restaurant sector. BIU also will include a panel of veteran KLA members telling stories from years past. Moderated by KLA Executive Vice President Dee Likes, the panel is meant to celebrate the 100th KLA Convention. Ranchers and feeders can unwind Thursday evening as Baxter Black takes the stage, sponsored by Zuprevo and Priefert. He's a self-professed cowboy poet, ex-veterinarian and sorry team roper. Black will prove it is the truth in his humor that makes it funny. KLA members should make hotel reservations now, as room blocks will fill fast. For reservations, call the Hyatt Regency (convention headquarters) at 888-421-1442 or Fairfield Inn at 800-321-2211. Date: 10/1/2012
