Leadership from Farm Credit Associations of Kansas and CoBank joined Kansas FFA and friends of agriculture education at the Kansas State Fair for a ribbon cutting at the new agricultural education building at the Kansas State Fairgrounds on Sept. 8.
This past winter the Kansas State Fair and Wick Buildings presented an opportunity to Kansas agricultural education programs and FFA chapters. The challenge was to raise funds necessary to increase square footage of a proposed new building, replacing the agricultural education facility located by Gate 5. The challenge resulted in funds to build the larger building, plus finance educational displays that will really maximize the effectiveness of the new facility.
Throughout the fair, the building housed hands-on, interactive learning for visitors. FFA Chapters from across the state volunteered time to lead activities. The Grand Drive animals were also displayed in the new building and cared for by Kansas ag education students during the fair. The building is available for use the remainder of the year and may be reserved through the Kansas State Fair office.
