Texas direct feeder cattle summary


The Texas Weekly Direct Feeder Cattle Summary, reported receipts of 24,000 head Oct. 26, compared to 22,200 head last week and 12,800 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, current FOB feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady with some firmness noted on weights under 750 pounds and a much better test of Current FOB, 750 to 800 pounds, Medium and large frame 1, steers this week and fewer 1 to 2 steers. Approximately 99% of this week's cattle weighed over 600 pounds, Approximately 44% of this week's weighted average receipts were steers and 56% heifers. Prices based on net weights FOB after a 3% shrink or equivalent and 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 4 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Current sales are up to 14 days delivery.

Steers: 10,600 head, 44%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 600 to 700 lbs., 147.90 to 155.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 143.00 to 148.50; 750 to 800 lbs., 141.00 to 145.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 139.00 to 141.00. Delivered price, 650 to 700 lbs., 148.00 to 153.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 143.85 to 148.25; 800 to 850 lbs., 140.00 to 144.00, fleshy grow yard 136.50; 935 lbs., 135.00. Future delivery, FOB price 650 lbs., 153.80 January; 750 lbs., 147.70 January. Delivered price 700 to 800 lbs., 148.40 to 153.75 December to February; 800 to 850 lbs., 145.35 to 148.25 December to March. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, FOB price 675 lbs., 144.15; 750 lbs., 137.90. Delivered price 700 to 725 lbs., 143.50 to 147.50; 800 to 900 lbs., 137.95 to 143.00. Future delivery, FOB Price 675 lbs., 147.25 November.

Heifers: 13,400 head, 56%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price 615 lbs., 146.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 130.90 to 143.40. Delivered price 650 to 700 lbs., 140.00; 700 to 725 lbs., 136.00 to 143.00. Future delivery, FOB price 650 to 700 lbs., 143.25 to 145.40 January; 700 to 800 lbs., 133.85 to 143.30 November to February. Delivered price 650 to 700 lbs., 145.50 December; 700 to 750 lbs., 142.75 to 148.50 November to March. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, FOB price 700 lbs., 129.50 to 131.90. Future delivery, delivered price 625 lbs., 148.00 December.
