Soybeans suffer sharp lossesSoybeans suffered sharp losses Oct. 29 as wheat had modest losses and corn had slight losses, according to the National Grain Market Summary. Soybeans lost last week's gains on selling as the stock market closed down operations due to hurricane Sandy's approach. This help to pressure wheat and corn on light trade volume. Wheat closed mostly 6 cents lower. Corn traded mostly 1 cent lower. Soybeans closed 29 to 34 cents lower. Grains inspected for export for week ending Oct. 25: Wheat totaled 9.7 million bushels, down 6.8 million bushels; corn 15.5 million bushels, up 5.1 million bushels; sorghum 500 thousand bushels, down 5.9 million bushels and soybeans 63.4 million bushels, down 1.8 million bushels compared to a week ago. Year to date: Wheat totaled 402.8 down 59.4 million; corn 143.3 down 82.8 million; sorghum 19.0 million up 1.4 million, and soybeans 309.3 up 101.3 million. Crop marketing years begin June 1 for wheat and September 1 for corn, sorghum, and soybeans. In the futures close, Kansas City December wheat was $9.03 1/4, down 6 cents. Terminal wheat bids, paid for truck delivery, included Kansas City, $8.73, down 6 cents; Minneapolis, $9.48 1/4, down 1 3/4 cents; Portland, unavailable; St. Louis, $8.38, down 6 cents. Terminal corn bids, U.S. No. 2 yellow, price paid for truck deliver, included: Kansas City, $7.57 to $7.62, down 1 cent; Minneapolis, $6.91, down 3/4 cent; southern Iowa, $7.19 to $7.22, up 3 1/4 to down 1 3/4 cents; Omaha, $7.57 to $7.63, down 1 cent. Terminal soybean bids, U.S. No. 1, price paid for truck delivery, included: Kansas City, $15.37, down 32 cents; Minneapolis, $14.91 1/4, down 34 cents; southern Iowa, $15.06 1/4 to $15.18 1/4, down 34 to 30 cents; central Illinois processors, $15.32 1/4 to $15.45 1/4, down 29 to 34 cents. Kansas City wheat prices Oct. 30, spot, fob track, included: No. 1 hard red winter wheat, ordinary protein, $9.37 1/4 to $9.97 1/4, down 1 cent; 12% protein, $9.82 1/4 to $10.03 1/4, down 1 cent; 13% protein, $9.92 1/4 to $10.10 1/4, down 1 cent; 14% protein, $9.97 1/4 to $10.12 1/4, down 1 cent.
