Miss America 2011 endorses Farm American
Agriculture is about more than just growing crops and livestock. It's about national pride and security. It's about our economy. It's about a way of life that provides the backbone and moral fiber of a nation.
Farm American is a program that encourages consumers to appreciate all these things by interacting and getting to know the real people of American agriculture.
Along the way, thousands of non-farmers have joined the celebration of American agriculture. Some of them, names you'll recognize such as NASCAR Sprint Cup Series driver Regan Smith, comedian Drew Hastings and recently announced Miss America 2011 Teresa Scanlan. This group of celebrities supporting Farm American is called our "Famous Farmers."
These are people who share a deep-rooted belief in the modern American agricultural system. They understand the role it plays in providing our own country, and the world, with safe and abundant agricultural products that affect every step in every person's daily life. Our Famous Farmers want to use their celebrity status to help share the Farm American message.
Growing up in rural Nebraska, Scanlan appreciates how food gets from the fields and pastures to the table. When she was named the 2011 Miss America she had the opportunity to advocate for agriculture and share the important message that agriculture is a part of everyone's life.
"Not everyone farms but everyone has to eat," said Scanlan. "Farm American understands the growing divide between producers and consumers and seeks to provide that link to benefit both sides. Through public awareness and increasing information, we can begin to change the way our country views the farm and the farmer. Farm American does just that, but in a fun and exciting way and I am so thrilled to be joining their team on this endeavor!"
Teresa Scanlan is a part of the growing group of the Farm American Famous Farmers. If you would like to learn more about the Furniture Row Racing/Farm American initiative check out our website at www.farmamerican.com.
