Amarillo livestock auction summary

The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,061 head Nov. 19, compared to 986 head last week and 954 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steer and heifer calves sold unevenly steady on light receipts. Yearling steers and heifers sold steady to firm on a limited test. Trade activity was moderate on moderate to good demand on long time weaned and conditioned steers and heifers. Several loads of seven weight steers and heifers available in the offering. Slaughter cows were firm to $3 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady on a light test. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 4%, 2% replacements and 94% feeders. The feeder supply included 54% steers and bulls, 46% heifers. Approximately 71% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 450 lbs., 178.00 to 187.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 169.00; few 519 lbs., 164.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 146.00 to 148.50, few 585 lbs., fleshy 136.00; lot 628 lbs., calves, 141.00; 700 to 725 lbs., calves, 135.00 to 135.50; couple loads 768 lbs., 143.85, few 785 lbs., calves, 131.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 550 to 600 lbs., 144.00 to 150.00; lot 733 lbs., 134.50; lot 761 lbs., calves, 130.50; few 806 lbs., 137.00. Medium and large frame 2, 800 to 825 lbs., 128.00 to 129.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, few 423 lbs., 168.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 117.00 to 124.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 111.00 to 113.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 132.00 to 134.50. Medium and large frame 2, 775 to 800 lbs., 102.00 to 106.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, few 372 lbs., 151.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 149.00 to 159.00; 450 to 500 lbs., 139.00 to 148.00; 500 to 575 lbs., 137.50; 600 to 650 lbs., calves, 126.00 to 127.50; few 704 lbs., calves, 122.50; load 796 lbs., 135.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 450 to 500 lbs., 138.50 to 147.00; few 530 lbs., 134.50; few 643 lbs., 127.50; load 745 lbs., 135.75. Medium and large frame 2, few 523 lbs., 120.00; 700 to 775 lbs., 119.00 to 120.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean 1200 to 1550 lbs., 72.50 to 75.50; high dressing, 81.00. Boning, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1375 lbs., 77.00 to 79.50; high dressing, 80.00 to 84.00; individual 89.50. Lean% lean, 85 to 90 lbs., 1100 to 1300 lbs., 83.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 67.00 to 70.00; high dressing, 82.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1450 to 2160 lbs., 84.00 to 88.00; low dressing, individual 1650 lbs., 82.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 950 to 1000 lbs., 3 to 9 months bred, 1075.00 to 1100.00; middle-aged to aged, 1300 to 1400 lbs., 6 to 9 months bred, 1200.00 to 1425.00/head.
