Ericson livestock auction report

The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 555 head Nov. 17, compared to 3,210 head last week and 2,980 head last year, according to the Nebraska Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

This auction consisted mostly of black, black-whiteface, and few red cows bred to black Angus bulls a few to Hereford and Charolais bulls, to calve Feb. 25 to April 25. Consignment of heifers consisted of black Angus AI bred to Angus bulls. Demand was moderate to good with not many buyers.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1, young 1595 lbs., with 60-lb. calves, 1400.00. Middle-aged, 1367 to 1765 lbs., with 200- to 250-lb. calves, 1600.00 to 1700.00. Short/Solid, 1414 to 1711 lbs., with 200- to 250-lb. calves 1560.00 to 1680.00. Broken Mouth, 1693 to 1721 lbs., with 200- to 300-lb. calves, 1660.00 to 1670.00.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1, heifers 834 to 890 lbs., 1100.00 to 1200.00. Young, 943 to 1300 lbs., 960.00 to 1240.00. Middle-aged, 1220 to 1397 lbs., 920.00 to 1200.00. Short/Solid, 1187 to 1307 lbs., 800.00 to 1120.00. Broken mouth, 1212 to 1321 lbs., 850.00 to 940.00. Running aged, 1023 to 1376 lbs., 710.00 to 965.00.
