Tulia livestock auction report

Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,544 head Nov. 15, compared to 1,122 head last week and 2,223 head last year, according to the USDA Market New Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves traded mostly steady to $3 lower on limited comparable sales. Yearling steers and heifers traded firm. Trade activity was moderate to active on moderate to good demand. Most attention was on several loads offered that were long time weaned and conditioned. Slaughter cows were steady on a light test. Slaughter bulls were not well tested. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 3%, 0% replacements and 97% feeders. The feeder supply included 65% steers and bulls, 35% heifers, with nearly 71% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, high dressing, 2090 to 2350 lbs., 95.50 to 96.00; low dressing, 1625 to 1825 lbs., 82.50 to 83.50.
