Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 2,184 head Nov. 15, compared to 4,000 head last week and 3,506 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, feeder lambs under 70 pounds were steady, over 70 pounds were $2 to $4 higher except 90 to 99 pounds were $5 to $8 higher. Good slaughter ewes were $4 higher, Utility ewes were $2 higher. Good demand for several long strings of Feeder Lambs and Slaughter Ewes which sold on a very active market. The offering consisted of 55% feeder lambs, 40% slaughter ewes and bucks, 5% replacement ewes and bucks. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, fleshy, 194 head, 175 lbs., 40.00. Good 3 to 4, fleshy; 8 head, 196 lbs., 36.00; 8 head, 212 lbs., 32.50. Utility 1 to 2, Medium, 200 head, 154 lbs., 38.50. Cull 1, thin, 127 to 139 lbs., 34.00 to 38.00 (37.90). Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1, 57 head, 88 lbs., 104.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 54 to 59 lbs., 115.00 to 119.50 (118.34); 60 to 66 lbs., 112.00 to 117.50 (115.60); 71 to 79 lbs., 102.50 to 113.50 (106.94); 48 head, 78 lbs., 89.00 poor fleeces; 205 head, 70 lbs., 118.00 thin fleshed; 84 to 86 lbs., 99.00 to 102.00 (100.41); 91 to 97 lbs., 93.50 to 104.00 (102.32); 93 head, 105 lbs., 88.50 poor fleeces; 110 to 119 lbs., 86.00 to 93.50 (90.80); 51 head, 121 lbs., 90.00; 134 to 136 lbs., 78.50 to 80.00 (79.02).
