Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,583 head Nov. 15, compared to 2,676 head last week and 3,473 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers mostly steady to firm with higher undertone on the few true yearlings on offer. Trade and demand was mostly good on value added and gaunt kinds; moderate on fleshier receipts. Body condition on receipts ranged from a thin and gaunt to mostly fleshy. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 14%, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 0%, and feeders 85%. The feeder supply included 58% steers and 42% heifers, with nearly 42% of the run over 600 pounds.

Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 70.00 to 76.50, few 79.50; low dressing, 65.00 to 69.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 75.00 to 76.00; low dressing, 65.00 to 69.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1200 to 1900 lbs., 84.50 to 92.50; high dressing, 1900 to 1950 lbs., 96.00 to 102.00.
