Ada livestock auction report

The Southern Oklahoma Livestock Auction, Ada, Okla., reported receipts of 1,715 head Nov. 14, compared to 2,019 head last week and 1,988 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steer and heifer calves were steady to $3 higher with heifers over 450 pounds were $2 to $5 higher. Yearling cattle were not established. Demand was moderate to good. Overall quality of offerings was mostly plain to average, and not as attractive as last week. Fills were average to full and most cattle were in average flesh. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher. Bulls were not established. Packer demand was moderate to good. The offering was 421 cows and bulls sold with 57% going to packers.

Boners, 39 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1475 lbs., 74.00 to 79.00; high dressing, 80.00 to 82.00; low dressing, 69.00 to 72.00. Lean, 27 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1220 lbs., 73.00 to 75.00; high dressing, 77.50; low dressing, 64.00 to 71.00. Lights, 22 head, 85 to 90% lean, 750 to 990 lbs., 69.00 to 71.00; high dressing, 73.00 to 77.00; low dressing, 62.00 to 66.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 9 head, 1440 to 1935 lbs., 92.50 to 95.00; high dressing, 98.50 to 102.50; low dressing, 85.50 to 90.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 3 to 4 years old, 1125 to 1250 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, average to high blacks, 1100.00 to 1300.00; 4 years old, 900 to 1100 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average blacks, 990.00 to 1150.00; 9 + years old, 900 to 1200 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, average blacks, 900.00 to 1010.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 to 7 years old, 1000 lbs., with 160- to 250-lb. calves, average blacks, 1100.00 to 1240.00.
