McAlester Union livestock market report

The McAlester Union Livestock Market, McAlester, Okla., reported receipts of 2,670 head Nov. 13, compared to 1,610 head last week and 2,720 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, steers under 450 pounds were $2 to $6 lower, over 450 pounds were $1 to $8 higher. Heifers were $3 to $7 higher, except those at 400 to 500 pounds were $2 lower. Quality was average with many attractive. The supply includes 38% over 600 pounds, with 42% heifers. Slaughter cows were steady to $4 higher. Slaughter bulls were $8 lower. Packer demand was good. A total of 265 cows and bulls sold with 65% going to packers.

Light, 35 head, 80 to 90% lean, 750 to 950; high dressing, 73.00 to 76.00; high dressing, 77.00 to 80.00; low dressing, 67.00 to 72.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 12 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 85.00 to 88.00; high dressing, 89.00 to 92.00; low dressing, 80.00 to 84.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 1 to 4 years old, 900 to 925 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, average quality, 950.00 to 1050.00; 1 to 4 years old, 925 to 1125 lbs., 4 to 6 months bred, average quality, 1050.00 to 1130.00; 5 to 8 years old, 1125 to 1375 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, average quality, 1050.00 to 1150.00; 9 to 10 years old, 1225 lbs., 6 to 8 months bred, average quality, 960.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 6 years old, 1050 to 1225 lbs., with 175- to 200-lb. calves, average quality, 1210.00 to 1260.00; 7 to 8 years old, 1100 to 1225 lbs., with 125- to 225-lb. calves, average quality, 1050.00 to 1260.00.
