MCA Convention to host bull auctionMissouri The Missouri Cattlemen's Association will host its fourth annual bull auction, Dec. 13 at 11:30 a.m., during the 2012 MCA Convention and Trade Show. The convention will be held at the Holiday Inn Select & Executive Center, Columbia, Mo., Dec. 11 to 13. The proceeds of this auction benefit the Missouri Cattlemen Foundation, MCA Political Action Committee and Missouri Junior Cattlemen's Association. MCA Executive Vice President Mike Deering encourages commercial cattlemen to attend the auction to find additions to their family's farm or ranch, while also donating to a worthy cause. "This auction is really about sustainability. We are able to contribute to the success of the next generation of farmers and ranchers, which strengthens this industry's future. It is important that we work together to empower the next generation," said Deering. "A portion of the proceeds also affords us the opportunity to support political candidates who have an understanding and appreciation for U.S. agriculture." More than a dozen cattlemen and cattlewomen donated sale credits for this year's auction. Around 15 credits will be auctioned off to be used at the donor's next auction. Both bulls and females are included in the auction. Deering said last year's auction totaled more than 19,000. Over the past three years, the amount of money raised has totaled nearly $54,000.
