Livestock conditions reflect range, pasture conditionsNew Mexico During the week ending Nov. 11, there were 6.9 days suitable for fieldwork, according to the National Agricultural Statistics Service, New Mexico Field Office, Nov. 13. Topsoil moisture was 65 percent very short, 28 percent short and 7 percent adequate. Wind damage was 19 percent light, 5 percent moderate and 3 percent severe. No hail damage was reported this week. Alfalfa conditions were mostly good; sixth cutting 93 percent complete; seventh cutting 75 percent complete. Cotton conditions were mostly fair to poor; 52 percent harvested. Corn conditions were mostly good to fair; 91 percent grain harvested; Sorghum conditions were mostly poor to very poor; 100 percent mature; 63 percent harvested. Winter wheat conditions mostly poor to fair; 95 percent emerged; 18 percent grazed. Peanut 74 percent harvested. Lettuce 87 percent harvested. Chile conditions were mostly fair to good; 65 percent harvested red. Pecan conditions were mostly excellent to good. Cattle conditions were mostly poor to very poor.
