Texas farmers appointed to NCGA action teams

Texas

The National Corn Growers Association relies on a strong group of farmer leaders for the organization to thrive and serve its purpose as a nationwide representation of one of the largest agricultural segments of the United State. Recently, the NCGA Corn Board determined the farmers who will serve as the core influencers for the association by announcing the members and leaders of its action teams, committees and working groups for the 2013 fiscal year.

The group selected six Texas farmers for various positions within these groups. The following producers were selected for NCGA Action Teams:

--Grower Services Action Team, Larry Mason of Dalhart;

--Public Policy Action Team, Steve Yoder of Dalhart;

--Trade Policy & Biotechnology Action Team, Robert Gordon of Dalhart; and

--Charles Ring of Sinton was also selected as the vice chairman for the Mycotoxin Task Force, a subcommittee of the Production and Stewardship Action Team.

Additionally, Pamela Yoder of Dalhart was selected as the secretary of the Corn Political Action Committee.

Wesley Spurlock, current NCGA board member and Texas Corn Producers Board director from Stratford was selected to again serve as chairman of the NCGA Finance Committee and as the organization's liaison for the National Cattleman's Beef Association. Further, Spurlock was appointed to the Commodity Classic Joint Venture Committee, marking him as co-chair for the 2016 event that is jointly hosted by NCGA, American Soybean Association, National Association of Wheat Growers, and National Sorghum Producers for farmers from across the nation.

"It's important for Texas farmers to be active with the industry at the national level," TCPB Executive Director David Gibson said. "Our farmers bring a unique perspective to each of these action teams and committees, which helps ensure the national organization knows the needs of our state's corn industry. It also enables them to assist in driving key initiatives for the agricultural industry as a whole."

Additional information on the action teams is available at www.ncga.com or visit www.TexasCorn.org for state-related industry information.
