Tulia livestock auction report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,122 head Nov. 8, compared to 1,385 head last week and 1,757 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared with last week, feeder steers and heifers sold steady to $2 higher, most advance noted on calves. Trade and demand was moderate. Slaughter cows were generally steady, slaughter bulls were not established. The best demand centered on long-weaned calves and yearlings. Short-weaned kinds discounted accordingly as buyers were very selective. Bulk receipts Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 800-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 6%, 1% replacements and 93% feeders. The feeder supply included 52% steers and bulls, 48% heifers. Approximately 75% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, individual 1445 lbs., 91.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young, 965 to 1040 lbs., 3 to 6 months bred, 900.00 to 1135.00; middle-aged, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 3 to 8 months bred, 960.00 to 1200.00/head.
