Colorado feeder cattle auction summary

Colorado Auction Feeder Cattle Summary, Greeley, Colorado, reported receipts of 15,407 head Nov. 9, compared to 16,407 head last week and 13,694 head last year, according to the USDA-Colorado Department of Agriculture Market News, Greeley, Colo.

Compared to last week, steers weighing 300 to 600 pounds traded mostly $3 to $4 higher and steers over 600 pounds traded mostly steady to weak. Heifers weighing 300 to 400 pounds traded $9 higher and heifers at 400 to 800 pounds traded mostly $1 to $3 lower. Reputation as well as 30- to 60-day weaned and vaccinated calves were again in high demand this week as we are expecting winter precipitation and colder temperatures to move into the region this weekend. Trading activity was moderate on moderate to good demand. The supply consisted of 59% steers and 41% heifers. Feeders over 600 pounds comprised 25% of the total supply.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1 255 to 285 lbs., 187.50 to 218.00; 310 to 345 lbs., 175.00 to 212.50; 355 to 400 lbs., 172.00 to 208.00, fancy 194.00 to 216.00; 400 to 450 lbs., 161.00 to 204.00, value added 191.00 to 209.25; 450 to 495 lbs., 166.75 to 188.00; 500 to 550 lbs., 149.50 to 170.00, thin fleshed 161.00 to 177.50; 550 to 600 lbs., 141.00 to 161.50, thin fleshed 167.50 to 168.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 142.25 to 154.00, calves 147.00 to 157.50, full 145.00; 650 to 695 lbs., 136.00 to 149.00, calves 145.00 to 153.50; 700 to 750 lbs., 138.50 to 145.00; 750 to 780 lbs., calves 138.00 to 138.50; 770 lbs, thin fleshed 147.00; 810 to 845 lbs., 132.00 to 140.00; 850 to 855 lbs., 131.00 to 140.00; 905 to 935 lbs., 128.50 to 135.00, full 132.00; 1000 to 1020 lbs., 116.00 to 117.00.
