West Plains regional cattle sales report

The Ozark Regional Stockyards, West Plains, Mo., reported receipts of 2,649 head Nov. 6, compared to 3,208 head last week and 2,871 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steer calves at 350 to 550 pounds were steady to $2 higher, few sales of pee-wee calves at 250 to 350 pounds, mostly weaned, were $8 to $10 higher, and calves over 550 pounds were steady to $2 lower. Yearlings, although compared to a limit test last week, sold $2 to $6 higher. Heifer calves at 350 to 600 pounds were very uneven and sold from $2 higher to $4 lower, depending on flesh, color and owners' health practices, weights over 600 pounds were steady to $3 higher. The supply consisted of 56% steers and 44% heifers, with around 44% weighed over 600 pounds.
