Amarillo livestock auction report

The Amarillo Livestock Auction Summary, Amarillo, Texas, reported receipts of 1,644 head Nov. 5, compared to 1,126 head last week and 1,341 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, yearling steers and heifers sold steady on limited comparable sales. Steer and heifer calves sold $1 to $4 lower. Trade activity and demand were moderate. Dry conditions around the area had wheat pastures needing rain. Slaughter cows sold steady to $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were not well tested in the previous sale. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 6%, 1% replacements, 93% feeders. The feeder supply included 50% steers and bulls, 50% heifers, with nearly 57% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 365 lbs., 201.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 164.00 to 176.50; lot 506 lbs., 159.00; 600 to 650 lbs., full or calves 142.50 to 144.50; lot 670 lbs., fleshy 126.00; 700 to 775 lbs., calves, 131.00 to 133.00; lot 796 lbs., full 136.50; lot 812 lbs., fleshy 125.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, lot 316 lbs., 190.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 149.50 to 157.00; lot 575 lbs., 140.50; lot 607 lbs., calves, 134.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 136.50 to 140.25; load 850 lbs., 134.00; lot 901 lbs., 126.00. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1455 to 1600 lbs., 85.50 to 90.25; low dressing, 1,350 to 2,060 lbs., 77.50 to 82.50.

Bred cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 950 to 1150 lbs., 3 to 9 months bred, 1010.00 to 1050.00; aged to short and solid mouth, 1000 to 1100 lbs., 3 to 6 months, 925.00 to 1000.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged, 1200 lbs., with 100-lb. calf, 1310.00.
