Lexington livestock market report

The Lexington Livestock Market, Lexington, Neb., reported receipts of 2,823 head Nov. 2, compared to 2,555 head last week and 3,340 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Kearney, Neb.

Compared to last week, steer calves sold steady to $5 higher. Heifer calves sold steady to $2 higher. Most calves had precondition shots, and about half of the offering was weaned. Demand was good from a moderate size crowd. The offering of slaughter cattle was round 600 head. The supply included 54% steers, 45% heifers and the balance was bulls, with 30% weighing over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 17 head, 310 to 345 lbs., 180.00 to 186.50 (184.78); 351 to 399 lbs., 185.00 to 200.00 (193.47); 431 to 448 lbs., 171.75 to 180.00 (175.62); 458 to 486 lbs., 170.00 to 185.00 (177.76); 500 to 545 lbs., 162.50 to 177.00 (166.80); 553 to 585 lbs., 155.00 to 168.00 (161.47); 8 head, 598 lbs., 147.75 yearlings; 610 to 636 lbs., 155.00 to 163.50 (161.54); 609 to 643 lbs., 154.50 to 157.00 (156.08) calves; 660 to 668 lbs., 149.25 to 156.00 (152.58) calves; 700 to 745 lbs., 152.00 to 159.75 (155.55); 60 head, 841 lbs., 147.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 467 to 498 lbs., 160.00 to 166.00 (164.05); 7 head, 594 lbs., 147.50; 8 head, 629 to 636 lbs., 145.00 to 147.50 (146.56) calves.
