Dalhart livestock auction report

The Cattleman's Livestock Commission Co., Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 3,075 head Nov. 1, compared to 3,238 head last week and 6,231 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady to $4 lower. More attractive packages, value-added and yearlings over 700 pounds tended to maintain last week's values. Trade and demand were mostly good on these types and moderate on fleshier receipts. Body condition on receipts ranged from a few thin to mostly fleshy. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to weak. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 350- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 13%, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 0%, and feeders 86%. The feeder supply included 65% steers and 35% heifers, with nearly 47% of the run weighed over 600 pounds.

Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 69.50 to 73.00; high dressing, 75.00 to 79.00; low dressing, 67.00 to 69.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 69.00 to 75.00; low dressing, 63.00 to 67.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1100 to 1900 lbs., 84.00 to 91.00; high dressing, 1950 to 2400 lbs., 94.50 to 97.25.
