Salina livestock auction reportThe Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,020 head, Nov. 1 compared to 3,571 head, last week and 2,902 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan. Compared with last week, steers at 600 to 850 pounds were steady to $1 higher, 850 to 1000 pounds were $1 to $3 lower, and 600 pounds and under were not enough for a market test. Heifers at 500 to 600 pounds were $1 higher; and all other classes were not enough for a market test. Trade was active and demand was good. Receipts included 74% 600 pounds and over, 25% 600 pounds and under, 1% slaughter cows and bulls. The supply was 67% steers and 33% heifers.
