Texas direct feeder cattle summary

The Texas Weekly Direct Feeder Cattle Summary, reported receipts of 14,000 head Nov. 2, compared to 24,000 head last week and 27,700 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week current FOB feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 lower on a lighter test of medium and large frame 1, current FOB cattle and a much better test of medium and large frame 1 to 2 steers and heifers. Receipts were considerable under last week and last year. Some dryland wheat pastures were beginning to show signs of stress due to lack of subsoil moisture. Approximately 97% of this week's cattle weighed over 600 pounds. Approximately 48% of this week's weighted average receipts were steers and 52% heifers. Prices based on net weights FOB after a 3% shrink or equivalent and 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 4 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Current sales are up to 14 days delivery.

Steers: 6,700 head, Medium and large frame 1 FOB price650 to 700 lbs., 147.45; 700 to 750 lbs., 142.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 140.00 to 144.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 140.00 to 146.00. Delivered price 700 to 800 lbs., 144.00 to 146.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 142.00 to 145.50. Future delivery, FOB price750 lbs., 146.35 to 146.60 December to January. Delivered price 700 to 800 lbs., 148.50 to 150.00 December to February; 800 to 850 lbs., 143.80 to 147.00 December to February. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, FOB price 600 to 700 lbs., 142.35 to 149.20; 700 to 800 lbs., 136.50 to 143.45, calves 134.29; 830 lbs., 140.00. Delivered price 775 lbs., 142.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 135.00 to 141.50. Medium and large frame 2, FOB price 815 lbs., 136.00. Delivered price 600 lbs., 145.00. Feeder Holstein steers, Large frame 3, FOB price 400 lbs., 114.00 to 124.00.

Heifers: 7,300 head, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price 680 lbs., 137.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 130.00 to 137.00. Delivered price 650 to 700 lbs., 139.30 to 140.00; 700 to 725 lbs., 136.00 to 141.30. Future delivery, FOB price 650 to 700 lbs., 144.10 to 146.00 January to February; 700 to 750 lbs., 138.40 to 142.25 December to January. Delivered price 575 lbs., 150.50 December; 625 lbs., 147.40 January; 700 to 750 lbs., 140.50 to 147.00 December to April.
