Texas direct feeder cattle summary


The Texas Weekly Direct Feeder Cattle Summary, reported receipts of 16,200 head June 29, compared to 5,300 head last week and 50,100 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, there were not enough comparable sales of feeder steers and heifers last week for a market comparison but the price trend was $5 to $10 lower compared to the last good test a couple of weeks ago. Approximately 80% of this week's cattle weighed over 600 pounds with approximately 49% of this week's weighted average receipts were steers and 51% heifers. Prices based on net weights FOB after a 3 percent shrink or equivalent and 5 to 10 cent slide on calves and 4 to 6 cent slide on yearlings from base weights. Delivered prices include freight, commissions and other expenses. Current sales are up to 14 days delivery.

Steers: 7,600 head, 49%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 675 lbs., 149.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 149.50; 800 to 850 lbs., 140.25 to 146.75. Delivered price 700 to 800 lbs., 148.50 to 154.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 140.00 to 150.00. Future delivery, FOB price, 650 lbs., 154.50 to 157.60 September. Delivered price 700 to 800 lbs., 149.85 to 153.50 August to October; 800 to 825 lbs., 149.00 to 151.00 August. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, delivered price, 300 lbs., Mexican Origin 181.00 to 196.00; 400 to 500 lbs., Mexican Origin 169.90 to 178.20; 500 to 600 lbs., Mexican Origin 156.60 to 164.50; 600 to 700 lbs., Mexican Origin 138.75 to 148.00; 850 to 875 lbs., 138.00 to 141.00. Medium and large frame 2, FOB price, 800 lbs., 132.00.

Heifers: 8,000 head, 51%, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 550 lbs., 149.00; 650 to 700 lbs., 131.50 to 145.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 131.25 to 142.75. Delivered price, 600 to 700 lbs., 140.70 to 146.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 133.00 to 148.00. Future delivery, FOB price, 600 to 700 lbs., 145.95 to 151.60 September to October. Delivered price, 600 to 700 lbs., 143.60 to 149.50 August to September; 700 to 800 lbs., 144.60 to 151.50 August to November. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, delivered price 300 to 400 lbs., Mexican Origin 159.00 to 183.00; 400 to 500 lbs., Mexican Origin 135.00 to 145.80; 500 to 550 lbs., Mexican Origin 133.50 to 137.00; 625 lbs., 148.00; 670 lbs., Mexican Origin 121.20; 750 lbs., 129.00 to 141.20.
