Champions selected at Western Junior Limousin Show, Western Limousin Expo

The Western Regional Junior Limousin Show and the Western Limousin Exposition Medal of Excellence show were held June 15 to 16 in Klamath Falls, Ore. There were 58 entries exhibited between the two shows. Dr. John Edwards, Medford, Ore., evaluated the junior show and Ty Byrd, Red Bluff, Calif., evaluated the WLE.

Western Limousin Exposition

Byrd selected DJ Xclamation Point as the grand champion female. She is a Sept. 16, 2010, daughter of BC 7022 Raven 7965 exhibited by Taylor Rizzuti, Prineville, Ore. She was followed by the reserve grand champion female, DJ Yearbook, a Jan. 1, 2011, daughter of S A V Iron Mountain 8066 and was exhibited by Lauren Mertz, Palmdale, Calif.

The grand champion bull, CIC Y Factor, was exhibited by Country Inn Limousin, Klamath Falls, Ore. He is an Oct. 5, 2011, son of SYES User Friendly 524U. The reserve grand champion bull, EILN Young Gun 44Y, is a March 19, 2011, son of EF Main Stay 541M. Whitcomb Cattle Company of Marysville, Calif, exhibited the bull.

In the group classes, the champion get-of-sire was awarded to VL Tower of Power, exhibited by VanZanten Limousin, Ferndale, Wash. MAGS Peppermint Paddy was selected as the Produce of Dam, exhibited by DJ Limousin, Port Orchard, Wash. DJ Limousin was also the exhibitor of the Best Six Head.

Western Junior Limousin Show

Edwards selected showman Eric Summers, Klamath Falls, Ore., as the exhibitor of the grand champion steer during the show on June 15. Austin Speck of Chehalis, Wash., was awarded the honors of exhibiting the reserve grand champion steer. In the Lim-Flex bull show, grand champion honors were awarded to Steven Pozzi, Petaluma, Calif., with POZZI Red, a July 1, 2011, son of AHCC Westwind W544.

The grand champion Lim-Flex female was awarded to EXLR Pudge 726U, a March 28, 2010, daughter of EXAR 263C. Her heifer calf at side is a March 12, 2012, daughter of WLR Direct Hit. She was exhibited by Steven Pozzi, Petaluma, Calif. Taylor Rizzuti of Prineville, Ore., exhibited the reserve grand champion Lim-Flex female, DJ Xclamation Point. She is a Sept. 16, 2010, daughter of BC 7022 Raven 7965.

Edwards selected TVZF Yola as the grand champion Limousin female. She is a Sept. 3, 2011, daughter of VL Tower of Power. Travis VanZanten of Lynden, Wash., exhibited this female. The reserve grand champion Limousin female was awarded to VZ X Rated, exhibited by Miranda VanZanten, Ferndale, Wash. She is a Nov. 5, 2011, daughter of EF Main Stay 541M.

Miranda VanZanten of Ferndale, Wash exhibited the grand champion bred-and-owned female, VZ Yippie. This female is an Oct. 16, 2011, daughter of VL Tower of Power. Edwards selected TSA Yours Truly as the reserve grand champion bred-and-owned heifer. She is an April 20, 2011, daughter of DJ Sugar Nutts and was exhibited by Austin Speck, Chehalis, Wash.

The champion pair of females was awarded to Miranda VanZanten, Ferndale, Wash.

In the showmanship contest, Miranda VanZanten, Ferndale, Wash., was selected as the champion senior showman; Austin Speck Chehalis, Wash., was awarded top honors in the intermediate division; and Taylor Rizzuti, Prineville, Ore., claimed the highest honors in the intermediate showmanship division.
