Conference will address diversified agricultureMissouri The 88th Annual Webster County Diversified Agriculture Conference begins at 8:30 a.m., Jan. 28 at the Marshfield Faith Baptist Church, 1002 S. Marshall St. (Highway A), south of the Extension Center, in Marshfield, Mo. "The educational nature of the conference is changed each year to reflect current issues of interest and concern in Webster County and southwest Missouri," said Bob Schultheis, natural resource engineering specialist with University of Missouri Extension. "The Saturday date was chosen again because it proved to be very popular with attendees last year." According to Schultheis, the conference planning committee has put together a timely program that will appeal to people interested in improving declining pastures, keeping horses healthy, and saving money on winter supplement feeding of livestock. Topics to be discussed include: Basic Pasture Management--Part I, by Brie Menjoulet, University of Missouri Extension agronomy specialist; Basic Pasture Management--Part II, by Tim Schnakenberg, MU Extension agronomy specialist; Horse Health: What You Need and What You Don't, by Dona Goede, MU Extension livestock specialist; and Winter Supplement Feeding of Livestock, by Andy McCorkill, MU Extension livestock specialist. Lunch and some conference costs are covered by sponsors, and participants are asked to contact the Webster County Extension Center at 417-859-2044 by Jan. 24, to make their meal reservation so enough food can be prepared. Donations are being accepted to help with the remainder of the conference costs. Participants are also invited to bring a non-perishable food item or cash contribution to be donated to the Webster County Food Pantry. For more information or a program agenda, contact the Webster County Extension Center in Marshfield at 417-859-2044 or websterco@missouri.edu, or go to extension.missouri.edu/webster.
